BIM, protection and maintenance work
September 14, 2018 – Last Friday, a lively exchange took place at the Hamburg location on the topic of Building Information Modeling (BIM). After a short introduction, attendees divided up to form several workshops and discussed current issues in detail. The focus was on software products, IFC interfaces, tender procedures, communication, and cloud solutions. Participants also brought to bear their experiences from successfully completed BIM projects. Finally, the results were jointly pooled by management, project managers and BIM enthusiasts and approved as the WTM roadmap for 2019.
In the afternoon the focus was on the subject of protection and repair work across all locations. Lively discussions ensued on the talks by WTM experts about non-destructive testing, current handling of construction products, and forecasting service life. A hot topic was the guidelines for concrete structures, which are currently undergoing extensive revision. This discussion and swapping of experiences represented an important milestone for practical applications.
Such meetings to share knowledge on specialist fields across locations are typically held once or twice a year. They not only form part of in-house further training, but also reflect the strategic orientation of WTM Engineers.
